The Department of Automation and Computer Sciences combines degree programmes focused on engineering and computer sciences at Hochschule Harz. The degree programmes are designed with a practical focus and offer a wide range of basic subject combinations in the areas of Computer Science, Automation Systems, Business Administration and Digital Multimedia Design. All degree programmes are characterized by a high level of Computer Science. The modern educational concept is geared to the needs of industry, administration and service companies, where Computer Science knowledge is indispensable.

The educational concept has been significantly shaped by the far-reaching development of the Internet and its manifold possibilities. Therefore, Internet technology is of special significance within the framework of the Computer Science degree programme of the Department of Automation and Computer Sciences. On the other hand, the immense computing power of modern computers or computer hardware offers the possibility of leveraging software to develop intelligent systems that play a central role in Automation Systems and in Engineering in general.

Modern, well-equipped lecture halls, seminar rooms as well as technical and multimedia laboratories support this educational concept. The Department of Automation and Computer Sciences offers a manageable learning environment and a multitude of teaching units in small groups.
