In the future, the significance of internationally skilled, qualified managers that have extensive language abilities, multicultural thinking and doing and not least a comprehension for overall business relations will further increase.
The Department of Business Studies at Hochschule Harz meets these concerns with the degree programme International Business Studies (B.A.). Since the introduction in the winter semester 2004/05 the Hochschule Harz offers highly motivated students a vocational degree programme which enables an entry into international business after already seven semesters. As a specialty, students get a double degree; this means the Bachelor's degree from Hochschule Harz as well as a degree from the relevant partner university.
In addition to sound business management training at Hochschule Harz, the International Business Studies double degree programme incorporates a two-semester study visit to a partner university and a work placement abroad. Above-average English language skills are a prerequisite for admission to the degree programme and are developed in intensive courses during the study programme.
The first four semesters in Wernigerode both lay down the content-related foundations for the course of studies and deepen knowledge already acquired within a professional field. During the study abroad, students are provided with an insight into the culture of the relevant host country and attend scheduled courses at the partner universities. After the study abroad and an at least 12 weeks lasting internship abroad, the course of studies including the colloquium on the Bachelor thesis is completed at Hochschule Harz. Students then obtain the two certificates of Hochschule Harz and the one of the partner university.
